Christmas 2017: A Baby, A Hope, and A Speech It's Christmas morning. Can you believe it? It snuck up on me. All the busy. All the must-dos. All the gotta-make-it-specials. I hope you're able to enjoy the day. Enjoy all those gathered around you. I pray that there are a lot gathered around you. But, even if there aren't a lot, or a … Continue reading Christmas 2017: A Baby, A Hope, and A Speech

Christmas Bells – My Annual Sharing Christmas Bells - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow I heard the bells on Christmas Day Their old, familiar carols play, And wild and sweet The words repeat Of peace on earth, good-will to men! And thought how, as the day had come, The belfries of all Christendom Had rolled along The unbroken song Of peace on earth, good-will to men! Till, ringing, singing on its way, The world revolved from night to day, A voice, a chime, A chant sublime Of peace on earth, good-will to men! Then from each black, accursed mouth The cannon thundered in the South, And with the sound The carols drowned Of peace on earth, good-will to men! It was as if an earthquake rent The hearth-stones of a continent, And made forlorn The households born Of peace on earth, good-will to men! And in despair I bowed my head; "There is no peace on earth," I said: "For hate is strong, And mocks the song Of peace on earth, good-will to men!" Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: "God is not dead; nor doth he sleep! The Wrong shall fail, The Right prevail, With peace on earth, good-will to men!" ______________________________________________________________ I know I share this every year, but I cannot get enough … Continue reading Christmas Bells – My Annual Sharing

You Are Not the Spark, You Are the Flame

I'm not going to lie. I struggled with what to write today. Something quick. Didn't have time to write anything elaborate. Deep. Meaningful. Maybe share a video or two of some happy, dance-able songs. Instead, this is what came. A picture of a candle with hands holding them forward. A light in the deep darkness. … Continue reading You Are Not the Spark, You Are the Flame

When You’re Losing the Fight Sometimes the fight is too much. We're bone-tired, can't catch our breath, and the battle still rages around us. The last thing we need is a patronizing cliche about how everything will work out for the best. What we do need is the fire of hope to keep us pushing forward, keep fighting. A … Continue reading When You’re Losing the Fight
