Hi, I’m Russell, author of the Middle-Grade fantasy adventure Children of the Ancient Heroes, and I love to share the magic of reading and writing with students of all ages.
For kindergarten through second grade, I enjoy focusing on the magic of books: the adventures they take us on and the world(s) they open to us. I find it best that sessions with these age groups are held in the school library or somewhere with easy access to a lot of books. It’s a lot of fun to explore picture books and early readers in this interactive time.
For third grade and older students, I not only talk about the magic of reading with them, but we explore the art of storytelling. Through activities that encourage participation, students will learn the basics of the elements and structure of what makes a good story – from books to movies and everything in-between.
I can provide a slideshow, if technology is available, and handouts for the storytelling sessions. If students, faculty, or staff wish to order books and have me sign them, please make it known through the contact form at least three weeks before the visit. You can also purchase my book at any of your favorite bookstores, but do give them enough time if they are out of stock.

Note: Pricing is a flat rate, but I do tailor the session time according to the age group for their benefit. K-2 sessions are 20-30 minutes while 3rd grade and up are 45-50 minutes.
