Flash Fiction Friday: A New Light

Here is this week’s Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers challenge. Enjoy!

“There!” Sarcos folded dark wings and plummeted to the desert.

“Excellent.” Thanatos landed and scanned the area. An empty road overgrown with scrub grass. Power lines hummed overhead. The rainbow they had followed touched the roof of a lone trailer. “You have done well.”

“Thank you, my King. I told you the girl could not resist. Humans never can.”

Thanatos smiled. “I will make an example of her. None will dare resist me again.”

Sarcos laughed and hopped around on his hands and feet.

Thanatos strode toward the trailer, then stopped. “Something isn’t right, Sarcos. After all the times she eluded us, she makes a mistake like this? If I didn’t know better, I would say she finally realized who she was and laid a trap for us.”

“And you’d be right.” A soft voice called from behind them.

Thanatos spun. Sarcos fell on his back, and screamed.

A woman stood a few feet away, light surrounded her. “I am Sable, always will be Sable, but I am so much more Thanatos. I am your destruction.”

  1. It is strange how some stories work and some don’t for their author. I am sure that at some piont you will revisit this story and turn it around to your satisfaction. I felt that their was much more waiting to come out of this tale. Perhaps that why you are not satisfied with it.
