Here is the last Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers challenge this year! Happy New Year’s everyone!
“I’m gonna be straight with you, I don’t get it.” Marley ran her fingers over the smooth glass head that sat on the table.
“Eyes are the windows to the soul.” Jack circled the table and pulled Marley into his arms.
“And?” She cocked an eyebrow.
“It doesn’t have eyes. So, no soul.” Jack turned his head and looked at the head.
“Uh, yeah, it’s glass.” Marley pushed away, laughing and shaking her head.
“It’s so much more than that, Babe. It’s our answer.”
“You said that, but I still don’t understand.” Marley picked up the glass head and stared at it.
“What if I were to tell you that we were going to get it a soul.” Jack slid the head out of her hands and held it up to an overhead light.
“Well, now I know where all the New Year’s champagne went.” Marley hopped onto the table and leaned forward.
“Just trust me, this coming year will be a good one. The ol’ man won’t be a problem any more.”
