Flash Fiction Friday: The Wanderer

Yay! Another week, another Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers‘ challenge! Enjoy!

The Wanderer stood, head bent, eyes closed. People scurried about in their cars. They did not know the danger coming. He tasted it, smelled it, in the air. It coated his skin like a thin oil. He did not know this evil, not yet. But whatever it was, it was powerful.

A breeze billowed his white tunic. He pressed his hat down on his head, and smiled. The danger changed. No longer all around him. One spot. Behind him.

“What’s in the bag?” A silky voice. Unexpected, but not jarring.

He turned. A woman stood there, taller than him, clad in red silk that danced like smoke. Her black hair was tight, neat. Her skin was olive and her eyes glowed green.

“What the…” tires screeched and metal crunched. Someone must have noticed. He admitted it wasn’t everyday one saw a woman like this on the street.

“It’s a gift.” He kept his attention on her.

“I love gifts.” She stepped toward him.

“Don’t we all? But this is for another.”

“We’ll see about that.”

Hmm…wonder if the dangerous woman will get to see the gift, or if the Wanderer will succeed in delivering it to whomever it is for. Intriguing minds need to know!

What about you? What do you think will happen? I’d love to hear about it.

Also, of note, are you participating in NaNoWriMo? I am, first time, and I am all set to go! Have an outline drafted for the first book in my series based on my Yanka and the Dragons short story. It’s going to be epic! If you are participating, maybe look me up on there and be my writing buddy.
