Merry Christmas! (Yes, I did say that – Already…)

Um, yes. Indeed it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Everywhere you go. And I mean, everywhere!

But, don’t worry. I’m not jumping on that bandwagon just yet. There is a reason I’m posting this little Christmas interlude for my Compassion Wednesday post.

You knew this was coming, didn’t you? With all that sponsoring children and making the world a better place kind of stuff I post on this page. Every Wednesday. Or more often as I see fit.

There are so many great organizations that are in full force this time of year, making ready to go all over the world and make someone’s day a bit brighter, that it is hard to choose which one to support.

Worldvision, Compassion International, Samaritan’s Purse.

All of them are great, and go to their websites – do – but I want to shine the light on an organization you might not know.

I talked about Living Bread Ministries in a post a little while back (here specifically). They are doing some amazing things. Today I want to talk about their annual Christmas drive.

See, all those shiny presents at the beginning of this post? We know that Christmas is so much more than presents, but we still get “wrapped up” in the whole gift giving mantra of the season. (Yes, pun intended).

What if that gift we give could change a life?

Share Christmas is the annual outreach of Living Bread Ministries. What are they about?

This:

Share Christmas provides school supplies and hygiene kits to children in need.

As you can imagine, a child living in a majority world slum has many obstacles; one of which is trying to get an education.  When your family is struggling to find food, school supplies don’t seem that important.  However, without them kids who are already struggling have almost no chance at doing well in school.  Through Share Christmas, we are addressing the need for school supplies.

Your gift will help a child in Brazil, Thailand, Cambodia, or Kenya have the school supplies he or she needs to be equipped for school, making an education more attainable.

Share Christmas also provides a basic hygiene kit for children, allowing them to clean up well for school and to be more healthy overall.

What better gift can you give than an education?

So, what can you do about it?

Go visit their site: ShareChristmas.org

Check out their page, and do something. Don’t just read it and think “Oh, that’s nice”. Make the difference.

There are so many organizations to support, especially during this time. Hopefully, this will show you how you can make the most out of your support.

And smile, because it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

  1. My wife and I take part in the Samaritan’s Purse annual charity drive for our church. It really is a wonderful time to think of others instead of what we would like to receive for Christmas, which, typically is furthest from our mind!
