Happy Flash Fiction Friday Everyone! Let’s get to the story, just as the monster was about to strike poor John:

I closed my eyes when the monster struck.

Everything went silent.

There was no pain. I didn’t feel the monster’s teeth. Didn’t feel its breath or slime cover me.

I didn’t feel anything.

“You can open your eyes.” Said a voice. A deep voice. Melodic. Soothing.

I opened my eyes.

The pool was empty. The waterfall murmured. Everything and everyone was gone.

Save one man in front of me. Tall. Silver haired. Well-groomed. Goatee. Black suit. Red tie.

Wicked grin.

“Who are you?”

“A friend,” he said.

And fear gripped me like never before in the wake of his stare.
