A Bigger Problem

It’s Friday! That means it’s time for Flash Fiction Friday!

This story picks up from where we last left John, Megan, and Katie in Something isn’t right. Enjoy:

We ran. I followed Megan and Katie out of the cavern prison and into the valley. We saw them. The spiders. Thousands of them. Fleeing away from the crack in the mountain that led to the waterfall.

I ran ahead of Megan and Katie toward the waterfall. We shimmied through the crack. Spiders scurried all around us, but ignored us. Still fleeing.

“Mikey! Stacey! Children!” Megan yelled. No answer.

The ground rumbled again.

The children screamed.

I threw myself out of the narrow passage, through the waterfall, and stopped dead in my tracks.

And I saw why the spiders ran.
