The Cabin on the Lake

Hello everyone and welcome to another Flash Fiction Friday! Hope that your Friday is a good one and that your weekend is one to remember. In a good way. Hopefully.

Just a couple of notes:

July Newsletter will be out in a few days. Sign up and get my Sci-Fi short story Alien Cafe: The Disconti Incident. It’s the sequel to my short story Alien Cafe, which is still over at Inkitt waiting for your love and support in the form of votes and reviews. πŸ™‚ How’s that for a plug?

I believe my novel Children of the Ancient Heroes is about ready to send off to literary agents to see if any will bite. It’s in the hands of some final proofreaders, so we’ll see what they say. I have finally started my first draft of the first book for my YA fantasy trilogy. I’m actually excited to see where this thing goes.

And now, the story:

Morning gold pours over the forested horizon and spills into the wisps of mist that blanket the lake and its shore. Loons sing their morning songs while drakes and ducks rustle wings for short flights. I sit on my cedar dais like a king surveying the land. My queen sits beside me, hand in mine, and we quietly drink in it all. Cool and crisp, the air clings to us and makes us rely on the touch of one another for warmth, for comfort, for peace. Hot sips of coffee; whispered words of love; a morning to treasure; a dream.
