The Experiment Part 6: Just A Dream

Hope your weekend is going well. This will be the first time I’ve posted on the weekend. I thought about not doing it, but that would defeat part of the purpose of this experiment (writing daily). So, we’ll continue on. Click here to go back to the previous post and follow the chain to where you last read. Enjoy!

The Experiment (Cont)

Bqcon sizzled and spat in the cast iron frying pan. There something warm and tranquil about the smell of bacon in the morning.

It had been two days since my dream. Two days without anything like it. I think that Kate might might be right. It was all a dream and an overactive imagination.

She had run to the store and town for some errands, so the house was quiet. I opened the door that led from the kitchen to a deck where I planned on eating breakfast and working on my book. I love the inspiration the pine forest at the edge of my home gives me. Birds sang, the wind rustled through the trees.

I heard the rattle.

I spun and ran to the deck. It was in the forest. The laugh. I could feel the cold. My skin prickled. My heart pounded. It was hard to breathe.

“We’re watching, Robert. We’re always watching.” It laughed. I ran back inside and slammed the door.

Time’s up.
