Flash Fiction/Character Intro – Part 1

This is in response to a semi challenge Summit Abrams gave me awhile back. I hadn’t had a chance to take him up on it until now. It was to see if I could do what he did – 3 flash fiction stories, all of the same scene, 3 different perspectives. I am taking this opportunity to introduce 3 characters from my current WIP (middle grade fantasy). It’s a scene where all 3 are present, but the book does not have these perspectives. They’ll post Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. My typical schedule. Here’s the first one, hope you enjoy.

Cal stood a few feet from the bed where the dying queen lay. No one in the room acknowledged her. They knew she was a mimique. Superstitious fools. That was fine. She wasn’t here for them. Ravena told her to watch. She told Cal the World Maker would send heroes to save the queen. Besides, she had her replica to keep her company. It mirrored her black and white diamond skin, but not her eyes. The door opened and in walked children. Cal watched as the wizard and witch greeted them. They’re the heroes? Would Ravena have her kill children?
